We ventured to the strawberry patch, one of my favorite summertime activities, over the weekend and I don’t think I’ve ever seen such beautiful strawberries before. A happy result to a painful winter that followed a very wet spring. This summer welcomed the most perfectly bright red and oh so delicious strawberries I’ve ever had. Hands down. No exaggeration. It was hard not to eat them right from the pick.
This is the first year that my girls really got into it. Like really into it. They knew exactly what to do and where to hunt and what to pick. The first year that I didn’t have to do much coaching, rather just be there right beside them sharing stories while we picked nearly 15 pounds of berries. Despite the summer heat, maybe the hottest day of the summer thus far, they didn’t complain and enjoyed themselves all the way through.
We washed and cleaned them up good. I decided to freeze some, left some for eating, made a couple batches of homemade jam, and had a few yummy mocktails (recipes coming soon)!
